A Taste of Ethiopia in Brooklyn: What to Expect When Dining at Bati

A taste of Ethiopia in Brooklyn. Top spot for dinner

Looking to try something new, bold, and unforgettable in Brooklyn? Whether you're a longtime fan of Ethiopian food or just curious to explore, Bati Ethiopian Kitchen offers a warm, authentic, and delicious introduction to Ethiopia’s rich culinary tradition, right in the heart of Clinton Hill / Bed-Stuy.

🍽️ A Different Kind of Dining Experience

At Bati, dining is a communal experience. Meals are typically served on a large platter of injera, a soft and tangy flatbread made from teff and wheat, which also doubles as your utensil. You tear off pieces of injera and use them to scoop up stews, veggies, and meats, a practice that’s both fun and deeply rooted in tradition.

Don’t worry if it’s your first time-our attentive staff is always happy to walk you through the experience.

🌿 Vegan or Meat Lover? We’ve Got You

Our menu is rooted in traditional Ethiopian recipes, many of which are naturally vegan. From misir wot (spicy red lentils) to shiro (chickpea stew) and gomen (garlicky greens), we serve hearty, plant-based dishes full of flavor and depth.

Craving meat? Start with our OG Kitfo — our bold take on traditional Ethiopian steak tartare — or dig into our Bati Rosemary Tibs, sautéed with berbere, fresh rosemary, and aromatics. We also serve crowd favorites like Doro Wot(spicy chicken stew with hard-boiled egg) and fusion specials like Kitfo Mac & Cheese, a  Bati original.

🎶 More Than Just a Meal

At Bati, we believe food and culture go hand in hand. We regularly host jazz nightskaraoke, and community eventsthat celebrate the sounds and stories of the Ethiopian and global diaspora. Whether you're joining us for dinner or drinks, there's always something special happening.

🍹 Cocktails, Tej & House-Made Shrubs

Our beverage program is just as bold as our food. Try our delicious Tej (Ethiopian honey wine), refreshing mocktails, or craft cocktails infused with seasonal herbs and spices. It's the perfect way to round out your meal or kick off a fun night out.

👋 What Makes Us Different

At Bati, hospitality is more than good service-it's part of our heritage. Our recipes are passed down from family. Our team is welcoming and knowledgeable. And our goal is always to create a space that feels like home.
